Arel Wars From Gamevil Combines RPG Action, Real-Time Strategy With Dynamic Environments And Graspable Gameplay

Gamevil released another treat to the Android Market today, introducing Arel Wars – a game that promises "RPG action and defense strategy," and doesn't disappoint.
The game is kind of a cross between tower defense, real-time strategy, and RPG, packing the best of all three into a colorful, spritely world, taking players through 120 levels and across 8 unique maps. Before each match, players must choose their arsenal of powers and minions, which can be upgraded and reproduced throughout each round. To make things a bit more dynamic, each hero specie has its own tactical advantages and individual skills. Winning matches pushes players up the ladder, allowing for upgraded skills and units, which can form almost infinite tactical combinations.

Arel Wars is genuinely fun, and has awesome graphics that combine pixel art with maps that almost look hand-drawn. The one major drawback is that ostensibly after each level, the player is confronted by this:

This isn't necessarily something new, but the sheer frequency of reminders is a little absurd, and I'm not 100% sure that giving a 5 star rating really guarantees a better future experience. At any rate, I am able to see past that annoyance and enjoy the game for what it really is.
On top of everything Arel Wars has going for it, the game is free in the Android Market. I'd definitely recommend trying it out if you're looking for a fun, light time-waster with a polished gameplay experience.

EA Mobile gearing up to release The Simpsons: Tapped Out onto Android soon

b_500_274_16777215_0___images_stories_news_simpsons_simpsons-tapped-out-android-game.jpg
EA Mobile has been working on yet another freemium title for Android and iOS called The Simpsons: Tapped Out. This will be a town building game where you will have the entire Simpsons universe showing their faces while you rebuild Springfield.
You will be playing as Homer who, along with the rest of the Simpsons family, made it through the nuclear meltdown that the plant had unharmed. It is up to you to rebuild Springfield. As a freemium game, you will be purchasing everything you need to use in rebuilding Springfield with paid-for doughnuts and in-game cash.
Aside from this though we don't have a whole lot of information about The Simpsons: Tapped Out right now. We can guess that it will be time-based building meaning you will have to wait for construction times to end and cooldowns to end before building other structures which is the going trend with games like this. No release date has been announced but it is suspected that the iOS version will land in a couple of month with the Android version following shortly after.
Hopefully this isn't heavy on the freemium purchases and is more of an optional thing but something is making us feel it will be otherwise.

Quill Brings Handwriting to Android Tablets

For Android tablet owners who have a stylus and want to use their tablet as a pen-and-paper replacement, one solution is Quill. This app allows users to handwrite in vector graphics in virtual notebooks. There are various settings for different pen colors and thickness, along with undo/redo and manual erase tools. There is a fountain pen mode that makes the line darker depending on how strongly the pen is pressed down on the screen, simulating an actual fountain pen. Each page can be tagged with various tags, which is perfect for students who want to remember what notes on various pages contain. The app also has support for the active pens on the Lenovo ThinkPad, HTC JetStream, and HTC Flyer. Notes can be exported as PNG files, or as PDFs, and shared via Evernote or Android built-in sharing. Quill is available for $1 from the Android Market), or available for free under the GPL from the Quill Google Code project website. Quill does require a Honeycomb device, so Galaxy Note owners are out of luck for now.

PlanetScapes Brings Intricately-Designed Alien Worlds to Live Wallpapers

ive Wallpapers look fantastic, bringing life to screens that otherwise are static and lifeless. It’s one of those things that Android owners can boast that they have that iOS owners do not. However, some of the live wallpapers are just random moving lines and patterns, nothing more. For those looking for a more substantial and detailed live wallpaper for their device, there’s PlanetScapes from Central Core Studios.
This live wallpaper incorporates three different selectable alien landscapes as a live wallpaper: Avalon Falls, Sunridge Canyon, and Northern Tundra. Each wallpaper is a dynamic view of the landscape, and fully animated. Each wallpaper also has settings to customize elements in it, like the rate of snowfall in the Northern Tundra wallpaper, cloud speed in Sunridge Canyon, and the camera panning effects when switching between home screens. This is a very high-quality set of live wallpapers, and while there are settings to decrease the processor hit they will take, a powerful device is recommended when using these. A free version is available with just the Avalon Falls wallpaper, and a paid version with all three wallpapers is also available, both from the Android Market.

The Top 25 Android Games

25 must-have games for any Android-owning gamer.

The Top 5 Must Download, Fun, And Free Android Games!

http://www.didyouwonder.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/androidGames-300x154.jpg
I recently bought an Android smartphone. Everyone else around me seemed to have one of the cool touch screen phones and had downloaded all sort of cool apps and gamed so I got rid of my old Nokia and upgraded myself to Android.
Once in my hand, I thought “Hmm.. what exciting android apps to download” … when my gaming instincts were awakened by the realization that there would be hundreds of free games available! So I started downloading – one after the other, removed the ones i didn’t like, and I ended up having five of the best, fun filled free Android games to play on your smartphone. And here they are:

1) Angry Birds

Turn up your sound to enjoy the “Weeeeee”s, and “Waaaaa”s of these color little birdies who throw themselves into pigs hiding in block fortresses. Each round gives you a few birds to throw at the pigs, and if all the pigs are hit, the next level is unlocked.
After the success of Angry Birds, Angry Birds Rio was launched in May for all those bird lovers who completed the original game. The Rio birds are very angry because some of their friends have been caged and sent to Rio by the pigs. They want revenge and need to rescue their fellow birds.

The graphics are amazing, and the accuracy of each throw is perfect. Help them set their friends free!
Download Angry Birds here and Angry Birds Rio here
2)Fruit Ninja
Honestly speaking this game is highly, highly addictive (I’ve just spend half the day playing it, and my hands itch to pick up my phone). Slice the fruit as they popup up from nowhere. There are three modes (Classic, Arcade, and Zen), and all three of them are cool. Unlock different blades and backgrounds as per criteria! The mysterious ninja sound effects add intrigue to the game.

Download right here
3)Yoo Ninja!
Tap tap tap! Tap your screen to keep the Ninja running and avoid obstacles. Heart patients beware! This game is very fast paced and requires quick coordination of the eye and hand. I get shocked each time the Ninja gets stuck or I miss a tap which kills the Ninja.

Download right here
4)Pirates of the Carribean
Captain Jack Sparrow right on your smart phone. Create your ship, build your crew, and embark on quests wrapped around the lore from the Pirates of the Caribbean universe

Download right here
5)Drag Racing
This one is especially for the car race lovers. Trust me, these cars look real. Drive them in a fast paced drag race. There are over 50 cars to choose from, including the officially licensed 1200 bhp Hennessey Venom GT™.
