As March comes to a close and April has just begun, we’re back for another round of our Top 10 Android Games of the Week. This weeks list includes three games fans have been anxiously awaiting, a few Zombies, gladiatorial combat, and some good old fashioned people smuggling. Yup, it’s a great week to be an Android gamer. Without further ado, we proudly present our picks for the Top 10 Android Games of the Week April 1st, 2012…
1. Homerun Battle 2
Com2uS dropped a game that sports fans have been waiting for earlier
this week with the release of Homerun Battle 2 for Android. If you
played the original game dubbed Homerun Battle 3D you’ll know exactly
what to expect from the sequel except part 2 is bigger, badder, and
better in every way. If you dig the long ball, and crushing peoples
hopes with one swing of the bat you can grab Homerun Battle 2 for free.
2. Gangstar Rio: City of Saints
Gameloft finally delivered on a game that people have been waiting
for in the form of Gangstar Rio: City of Saints. The latest game in
their “Gangstar” lineup puts you on the mean streets or Brazil and gives
you all the GTA style action you can handle. The game looks great, and
plays just like the other Gangstar games; if you’re a fan of the series
you’ll definitely want to get this one. You can pickup Gangstar Rio:
City of Saints for $6.99 on Google Play.
3. Smuggle Truck
Snuggle Truck is a new Android game from Owlchemy Labs that puts you into the role of a Coyote
driver that’s in charge of taking folks across the border. You’re armed
with an old pickup truck and your wits as you take on rugged terrain
and try to make it to the finish line with all your passengers. The game
has unlimited replay value with its user created levels, and it’s a
whole lotta’ fun to play. You can pick up Smuggle Truck or its fuzzy
counterparts “Snuggle” Truck on Google Play for $3.99.
4. Shane Reaction: Zombieland
It’s been a great couple of weeks to be a Zombie fan, especially when
you get cool new games like Shane Reaction Zombieland. Shane Reaction
is a Zombie shootem’ up from ArtBit games that puts you to work
defending a small patch of land against hordes of relentless zombies.
All that stands between you and the undead is a little fence, and you’ll
have to keep it repaired and stay alive while blasting away at the
Zombie hordes. If you’re a Zombie fan there’s little doubt you’ll want
to pick this one up and you can find it for free on Google Play.
5. Temple Run
Temple Run is a game that most folks have heard of from its iOS days
and from the recent rash of copycats that hit Google play. Well, the
OFFICIAL version finally came out earlier this week, and it’s just as
much fun as advertised. You’ll run for your life as you try to escape
the temple and demon monkeys chasing you. This little runner looks
great, and will definitely put your reflexes to the test. You can find
Imangi Studios Temple Run for free on Google Play.
6. Swords and Sandals
Swords and Sandals is a new Gladiator game from 3rd Sense
that’ drops you in the arena and puts you on the path to glory. It’s a
turn-based strategy game that lets you deck out your gladiator in all
kinds of gear as you battle your way to victory and try to win your
freedom. There is a free version of Swords and Sandals you can try that
gives you a few tournaments while the full version gives you everything
for only $0.99 cents.
7. Fill the Gap
Like awesome quick-play games with a retro feel? If so look no
further than Fill the Gap from Tournesol. Fill the Gap is a line
clearing game in the vein of Tetris, but it has a style and gameplay all
its own. You can check out our full review of Fill the Gap or head on
over to Google Play and pick it up for free.
8. Hybris
Hybris is a new side scrolling adventure game from Drowning Zebra
that lets you hack & slash your way through 48 gorgeous 3D levels.
Hybris plays like an old-school game, but the backdrops are anything
retro as you’ll quickly find out. There are lots of weapons to upgrade
and plenty of Magic to go around for those of you that enjoy casting a
few spells. We’ll have more on this little gem later in the week, until
then you can grab it on Google Play for free.
9. Minibash
Minibash is a quirky looking new Android fighting game from Nabi
Studios. This 2D fighter lets you take the battle online as you try and
knock your opponents block off in some very colorful ways. I couldn’t
get the game to run on ICS so I was unable to play it, but it looks to
be a good one to check out. You can pick up Minibash on Google Play for
free.
10. Mysteryville: Detective Story
Mysterville: Detective Story is a new hidden-object game from
Nevosoft makers of Dream Sleuth. Their latest hidden object adventure
